The canvases have been appraised by a fine art expert and auctioneer and will be on sale for prices ranging from 600 to 2,000 euros. Two pieces of art have also been chosen and will be printed as limited editions lithographs in a series of 149 each, for sale at 80 euros. Each canvas will be stamped with the Ubisoft Studios seal and comes with a certificate of authenticity, and both the canvases and lithographs will be hand-signed by Mohamed Gambouz graphic art director at Ubisoft. Ubisoft’s proceeds from artwork sold will be donated to MO5, a charitable organization that preserves the history and culture of videogames.
The world renowned Arludik art gallery in Paris, which specializes in film, comic and videogame fine art, will display a month-long exposition of original digital canvases created by the teams of artists at the various Ubisoft development studios that have worked on the multi-million selling Assassin’s Creed videogame franchise. Check out an exclusive video interview about the new Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood game below.
Arludik is the first art gallery dedicated to artists who create the masterpieces of comic books, animated films, cinema, manga, and videogames…and who entertain by creating some of the most memorable images of our time. Created by Jean-Jacques and Diane Launier in 2004 in Paris, the Arludik gallery was the first in the world to exhibit original works of these artists in order to establish them as a real contemporary artistic movement: the entertainment art.
Assassin’s Creed: The Exposition will feature original concept art that was used to inspire the ambiance, characters and buildings displayed in all three Assassin’s Creed video games – Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed II and the upcoming November 2010 release of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. The exposition will include 35 individual works of art never before seen by the public.
“Ubisoft is honored to showcase the outstanding artwork by the talented designers of Assassin’s Creed in the world famous Arludik gallery,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],” said Serge Hascoët, chief creative officer at Ubisoft. “This is the first time ever that Ubisoft’s creative teams have been featured in a fine art gallery, and this exposition proves that the creative work of the artists in the videogame industry inspires the passion of gamers the world over.”
