Some things are just inevitable. For instance, X Factor is always going to be a total waste of everybody’s time, and yet, equally inescapably,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I’ll slump in front of ITV every Sunday night just to find out which unfortunate soul will fall victim to Wagner’s reign of terror. Sadly, it’s just a given.
This is one of six remixes on the ‘Indestructible’ single, which was released on 22 November. The acoustic album version of the song, which can be found on Robyn’s latest album, Body Talk Pt. 2, is also well worth a listen.
A-Trak enhances the original song in every way; the once slightly limp synth-pop production is brought right up to date with a heavier bass line, punchier beats and a veritable smorgasbord of strings and synths. But, despite this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], A-Trak keeps his ego reined in throughout,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], leaving the original spirit and personality of the song intact. His input serves mainly to compliment Robyn’s classy, well-crafted melodies, whilst adding the occasional technical flourish, but always allowing her to remain in full control of the song.
And you could say that there’s an air of inevitability about this A-Trak remix of Robyn’s ‘Indestructible’. Mixing the Swedish queen of pop with possibly the most groundbreaking and successful remixer in the world can only result in something pretty damn good – and this track doesn’t disappoint. |
