Boys Two of the top teams in the BL meet today (Monday) in Thomaston as the Bears (4-1 with just an overtime loss to Nonnewaug) hosting Litchfield (2-1-1 … beat tough Housy; lost to Nonnewaug and tied Lewis Mills). Tuesday Pomperaug, which is undefeated at 5-0-1, travels to Stratford to face Bunnell, which hasn’t lost a game yet but has tied twice. And what a week for Torrington. The Red Raiders host Watertown Wednesday and Naugatuck on Saturday. Sometime Saturday night we will have a better understanding of the NVL boys race. Girls As interesting a week as the Torrington boys have,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Lewis Mills girls might even top it. The Spartans, after a game against Wolcott Tech Monday, face defending BL champion Nonnewaug (5-1) on Tuesday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then travel to Litchfield to face the Cowgirls (5-0 starting the week) on Friday afternoon). Wow. And Monday night, how about this game on the Torrington High pitch as the undefeated Raiders (6-0) plays equally undefeated Naugy (5-0, coming off an impressive 2-0 win over Watertown).
To wit:
Yeah, the weather is lousy early this week, but if you ever wanted to trek out and watch a high school soccer match are there some beauties on the schedule.

With about a month to go in the regular season, this shapes up as a defining week of local high school soccer. |
